Saga 1052 Joins Crusade against Drink

By Gary Ritchie

SAGA 105.2 FM are running a rash of messages every day during the annual drink drive festive campaign. S AGA 105.2 FM have teamed up with Crimestoppers Scotland for regular updates on how, with the help of SAGA’s listeners, they can pass on details as to who they know are drink driving during the festive campaign.

By using the tried and tested anonymous number they could help save lives.

During the month of January SAGA 105.2 FM will be looking at how information given to Crimestoppers Scotland has translated into persons being arrested and the penalties involved once they are convicted over and above the compulsory minimum one year ban.

Not content with daily exposure over the air waves, Crimestoppers in partnership with the Scottish Executive are taking or talking to the silver screen.

National Co-ordinator, Jim Dunbar has already spent the day at STV in preperation for some prime time coverage as he stars in the Executive’s public information programme, “Talking Scotland.”

Various transmissions will be made during the week of the 19th December where Jim will inform the Scottish public as to how Crimestoppers Scotland can help take drink drivers off the road.

Sgt Gary Ritchie, call centre manager for Crimestoppers Scotland, said, “with prime time exposure on television this month we expect a significant increase in the number of drink driver calls and in anticipation of this, we’ve put extra resources in place to meet the demand.” He added, “ I fully expect December to be a bumper month at Crimestoppers Scotland and this festive campaign will put the cherry on the icing on the cake for what has been a terrific year.”
